Privacy notice
DBSE (dbse.org.in) is a community platform operated from India. This notice explains what personal data we hold, why, and your rights as a data principal.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, password (hashed), handle, role, and the profile fields you choose to fill in.
- Disclosure data: your declared vendor affiliation. This is shown publicly next to your contributions because it is the basis of the platform's trust model.
- Content: threads, replies, reviews, ratings, and war-room messages you write.
- Technical data: a salted hash of your IP address on reviews and waitlist sign-ups, used only to detect coordinated posting. We do not store raw IP addresses with content.
Why
To run the community, show contributions with their context, detect astroturfing, and contact you about your account. We do not sell data, share the member list with vendors, or run advertising.
Your rights
You exercise these yourself, immediately, without writing to anybody:
- Access. Download everything we hold about you as JSON from your data page.
- Correction. Edit your profile at any time.
- Erasure. Close your account from the same page, choosing either to anonymise what you wrote (because other members relied on it when choosing tools) or to erase it with the account.
- Withdraw consent. Turn off notification emails and the digest under Notifications on your profile.
For anything the page does not cover, to nominate someone to act for you, or to raise a grievance, write to privacy@dbse.org.in. We answer within 30 days as the Act requires.
Retention
Account data is kept while the account exists. War-room messages are deleted 30 days after the room closes. Waitlist emails are deleted once an invite is sent or after 12 months.
Breach notification
If a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the Act requires.
