What happened
For a manufacturing estate with 30 sites the price-performance is unbeatable and the hardware is reliable. The honest caveat is that edge appliances have been a favourite target, and we have had to move to a patch-within-days posture for SSL VPN specifically after the 2024 FortiOS advisories. If your change process cannot support that, the saving is not a saving.

You must be able to patch edge devices fast. Some features work better in an all-Fortinet estate than alongside other vendors.
